Meet the latest team member!

Meet the latest team member!

As we storm into June and Cambodia’s beautiful (yes beautiful!) rainy season, EmbraceAbility is very excited and proud to announce the latest addition to its team! The talented Amara Khan joins us as Project Coordinator, an essential role in our service provision on Koh Dach Island. Bringing with her a wealth of experience in nursing and project management, Amara is the perfect person to lead EmbraceAbility’s first Cambodia-based Programme.
Born and raised in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Amara is the youngest of her family. Driven by a passion for people and health, Amara attended school for nursing and graduated with flying colours in 2014. Wasting no time, she went straight to work as a temporary staff member at the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh. After a year, Amara’s desire to work in grassroots healthcare within the community setting led to a position as an intern with Projects Abroad Cambodia. Rising quickly through the ranks, she has been working in recent years as coordinator for their Public Health Project on Koh Dach Island.
Not only is Amara very capable and qualified in taking on her new role with EmbraceAbility, the mutual trust and respect she has built with local communities on Koh Dach Island is obvious. Her years of committed service in this area will give us a smooth and effective start to our Community Outreach Programme. Under her guidance and leadership, we are confident that our volunteers will hit the ground running as they provide tailored therapy, basic healthcare and interactive workshops to children with disabilities and their families.
“I really¬†enjoy working with the community to meet new people and share my knowledge with them. My main passion is to help people to live in the better conditions including mental and physical health. I believe I can impact their lives no matter how big or small”
Congratulations Amara and the best of luck in your new position with EmbraceAbility! Welcome to the team!
